Fashion CAD Software

Graphics is labour intensive so anything you can do to speed up the process is good, Melbourne-based CAD/CAM provider Fashion Matters Australia’s Mitchell Dobelsky said.

“FMA will train your staff and offers technical support by phone, fax and email and the internet . Our main products are the CM32 and Fashion Toolbox software, jointly developed by FMA and Colour Matters UK, US and Asia,” Dobelsky said. “Colour Matters software has successfully been introduced to some 4000 sites around the world, and has sold more than 250 licenses throughout Australia. In particular, Fashion Toolbox, throughout innovative marketing programs in Australia, is becoming the standard of fashion design students.”

Dobelsky said, being a smaller company, FMA can work to give customers what they want. “We are not a huge organization so we are not hamstrung by bureaucracy. We listen to our customers and we’ll evolve the software in a flexible manner to suit their needs. We are very focused on how we structure training and support. For example, we’ll do six hours of training but in two-hour hits and we only train two people at the time. Because of our training process anyone can ring us as often as they want and get the answers to their questions.”

Hugh Murray Waker of SoftSpec agreed that anything that speeds up the production process was clearly a good thing. While most designers now embrace technology such as illustration applications and email, he believed there was still much more they could do to save time and his message is clear: “Get your specs done quickly and get back to what you really love – designing.”
